Leather Cleaner

Protecting leather garments is one of the best ways to preserve its beauty and softness.  Leather can last a long time if we treat it right.  To do so, we need to use professional leather conditioner cleaner.  Think of it as a second layer of skin we put on.  If we don’t treat our skin with cheap and harsh soaps, why would we treat leather that way as well?

Proper care of leather begins with cleaning and conditioning right from the moment we bring the item home.  Prevention of spills and accidents is the best way to preserve the garment or accessory so get a soft cloth out and start by removing any surface dirt from the leather surface.   Next, get a leather conditioner cleaner solution and apply it over a small and inconspicuous corner of the leather garment.  If the color stays, then it is safe to apply it over the entire surface.  There is nothing worse than buying an expensive leather item, say a purse, and then ruining it with the wrong type of leather conditioner cleaner.  So, always be careful and test it out where it won’t be noticeable like you would test new carpet cleaner solution with a carpet steam cleaner.

By applying leather conditioner and cleaner it does many things to preserve the purse.  First, it does a cleaning to let the leather breathe, second, it moisturizes the leather so it stays soft and supple, and third, it leaves a thin coating on so that it becomes resistant to minor staining from liquids and harsh weather conditions.  In the winter, you are looking for protection from the ice, sleet and snow.  In the summer, you are looking for protection from the sun and arid conditions.  So if it is an everyday purse that you are looking to protect, make sure it can withstand the conditions that will make the purse dry and stiff to touch.  A good leather conditioner cleaner will help protect your purse from the weather.

Still, there are times when despite our best intentions, the purse does get scuffed or marked up with ink stains.  On how to remove ink stains from a leather purse, you might try using isopropyl alcohol.  As always, test a corner out before you proceed over a larger area.  Isopropyl alcohol works best on ink stains that are fresh.  Use a small cotton swab and start with the outer edges of the stain and work your way in.  After all, you don’t want to make a greater mess and spread out the ink stain further.  If the ink lifts then keep at it gently but don’t rub too hard and risk the dyes coming out.  After the cleaning, moisturize the purse with a leather conditioner to keep it soft.

Leather garments and furniture can be a bit hard to take care off, and that is why protective leather conditioner and cleaner kits are recommended before accidents occur.  However, they do occur and if the stain is too difficult to lift, then take it to a professional leather cleaner.  It is always an investment to save an expensive leather item than to throw it out.
